New Renown Behavioral Health Crisis Center Opens in Sparks to Provide Short-Term Stabilization and Care

Renown Health, in collaboration with the State of Nevada and Washoe County, proudly announces the opening of the Renown Crisis Care Center. Officially opening its doors to the community tomorrow, on Thursday, Feb. 20, this facility is a critical component of the Washoe Crisis Response System, which integrates crisis response services to ensure individuals have access to psychiatric support when they need it most. The Renown Crisis Care Center provides a short term, 23-hour behavioral health crisis intervention in a specialized, therapeutic environment, offering faster access to care, targeted treatment, and a calmer setting- unlike emergency departments which are often not equipped for dedicated mental health support. The Renown Crisis Care Center fulfills the crucial need for a "safe place to be," offering immediate care, 24/7 crisis intervention, assessment and stabilization services in a safe and supportive environment on the campus of the Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health (NNAMHS) Location at 480 Galletti Way in Sparks, NV. "Our communities in Nevada are experiencing a severe mental health crisis, with many struggling to access timely psychiatric care," said Brian Erling, MD, MBA, President & CEO of Renown Health. "The need for immediate, specialized behavioral health services is urgent. We are proud to partner with the State of Nevada and Washoe County to establish the Renown Crisis Care Center in Sparks, providing compassionate, timely care for our community. Together, we are expanding resources and access to strengthen our mental health infrastructure, ensuring no one in crisis is left without support." He adds, “The Renown Crisis Center also provides first responders- law enforcement, emergency medical services personnel, firefighters, and crisis intervention teams, with a dedicated, specialized facility to bring individuals in mental health crises, 24 hours a day, ensuring they receive appropriate care while freeing up resources and emergency departments for other critical needs." “Mental health crises require immediate, specialized care in the right environment- one that is calm, supportive, and equipped to provide the appropriate interventions,” said Takesha Cooper, MD, Chair of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences for Renown Health and University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. “The opening of the Renown Crisis Care Center ensures that individuals in crisis receive expert care from behavioral health professionals, rather than being placed in busy emergency departments or law enforcement settings that are not designed for these needs. Most people are stabilized within the first 23 hours. Individuals who require more extended stabilization may stay for an additional amount of time as determined appropriate by clinical staff. All patients receive support to transition back into the community with ongoing care if needed.” Dr. Cooper adds, “Over time, the Renown Crisis Care Center will integrate our teaching mission by training UNR nursing, social work, residents and medical students, expanding the workforce and preparing the next generation of mental health professionals to deliver high-quality, evidence based and compassionate care.” "This project is a shining example of what can be accomplished when not-for-profit public and private entities come together to address the critical health care needs of our community," said Steve Shell, MBA, vice president of Behavioral Health at Renown Health. "We are deeply grateful to the State of Nevada, Washoe County, Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve, and our community partners for their collaboration and support in making the Renown Crisis Care Center a reality. Their dedication and commitment have been instrumental in bringing this much-needed resource to northern Nevada." The Living Room Model Ensures Safe and Comfortable Place for Crisis De-escalation The Renown Crisis Care Center helps ensure that a person experiencing a behavioral health crisis in our community who cannot be de-escalated through a phone call to 988 or interaction with a mobile crisis team has a safe and effective place to receive stabilizing short-term care in a comfortable, living-room-like setting.  The Renown Crisis Care Center offers the following services to individuals 18 years of age or older who walk in, are referred by local community providers or are transported by law enforcement or other first responders: Comprehensive assessments performed by a multidisciplinary team, including Registered Nurses, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Family Nurse Practitioners, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and Psychiatrists. 23-hour crisis observation and stabilization to alleviate immediate distress.Connections to community resources, including inpatient psychiatric or detox beds, outpatient behavioral health care and primary care. Connections to community resources, including inpatient psychiatric or detox beds, outpatient behavioral health care and primary care. Support from Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialists. Care coordination to ensure a smooth transition to appropriate services. Transport to an emergency room for advanced medical care if needed.  Access to a Renown Patient Financial Assistance representative to support individuals who may qualify for financial assistance programs. Renown’s Commitment to Community Well-Being Renown Health’s commitment to community-based prevention has been pivotal to addressing need in a state that also posts high adult and youth suicide rates. Addressing these pressing community health needs, the Renown Community Health team convenes area non-profit organizations, state agencies, service providers, funders and concerned community members in the "Connect Washoe County" collaborative to share data, develop and fund interventions and measure improvements made in adult and youth behavioral health.  “A person’s ability to live a fulfilling life often depends on their mental health,” says Kerry Kelly, MPH, Manager, Community Health. “The opening of the Renown Crisis Care Center directly aligns with our Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA), a survey recently conducted with Northern Nevada Public Health and our community partners, to better understand the most pressing health care needs of our community. As the community’s only not-for-profit, academic health system, our Implementation Plan for the 2025-2027 CHNA focuses on improving access to healthcare services and mental health services. This has resulted in developing innovative programs like this one, which will have a significant impact on improving the health and well-being of individuals and families in our region. We thank our partners for leveraging their resources and expertise to create this vital service that strengthens our ability to meet the evolving health needs of northern Nevada.” About Renown Health Renown Health is the region’s largest locally governed, not-for-profit integrated academic healthcare network serving Nevada, Lake Tahoe and northeast California. Renown Children's Hospital Announces 2025 Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Champion Child

15-year-old Giovanni Melgarejo exemplifies the power of strength and courage as a child living with one of the world’s rarest congenital syndromes A video introducing Gio and his journey can be found here.   Renown Children’s Hospital and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) are excited to announce Giovanni “Gio” Melgarejo as the 2025 Champion Child. Gio spent the first three months of his life in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Renown Children’s Hospital with multiple health complications. Given a week to live after coding, he defied the odds. After spending significant time at both Renown Children’s Hospital and the University of California, San Francisco Children’s Hospital, he finally got a diagnosis – CLOVES, a very rare congenital syndrome that presents itself with skin, spinal, bone or joint abnormalities and vascular overgrowths. “At Renown Health, we witness incredible stories of resilience every day. Gio and his family’s journey is truly extraordinary,” said Brian Erling, MD, MBA, President and CEO, Renown Health. “Overcoming tremendous health obstacles with courage, determination, and a bright spirit, Gio inspires our medical team and everyone who has the privilege of knowing him. This is a testament to the power of exceptional care, unwavering family support and a child’s incredible strength. We are honored to be part of Gio’s journey and proud to see Gio representing the youth in our community as Renown Children’s Hospital’s 2025 Champion Child.”   Gio is one of 200 people in the world who have been diagnosed with CLOVES. According to the U.S. National Institutes of Health’s Genetic and Rare Diseases Information Center (GARD), the syndrome can occur as a result of a genetic mutation, either inherited from a parent or randomly when cells divide. Like what Gio experienced, symptoms can start making themselves present when the child is a newborn or infant. Because of how rare the condition is, GARD reports that it can take up to six years to receive an accurate CLOVES diagnosis. Despite this long journey, Gio and his family never gave up in their pursuit of an answer and treatment.   Gio’s road to recovery has been full of ups-and-downs. From complications related to CLOVES, including skin bleeding, blood clotting, infections and soreness, to a battle with sepsis and relearning to walk, sit up and eat on his own, he has exemplified hope and determination through it all. After several years of hospital visits and intensive physical therapy, paired with the help of his loving family and compassionate healthcare teams, Gio can do most things that many kids his age can do. Today, he is a happy, funny, artistic and charismatic boy with a mind for business.   During these many visits to the hospital, the Melgarejos got to know the nurses and doctors in the pediatric units. Natasha Melgarejo, Gio’s mom, reflects on the best-in-class standard of care he always received at every visit at Renown Children’s Hospital.   “Throughout his young life, Gio has had a rollercoaster of good and bad health days. With the support of all of us, knowledgeable medical and nursing staff and the many resources that case workers have provided, he has made unbelievable progress,” said Natasha Melgarejo. “His care team has helped him learn to walk, ensured he has access to customized shoes and a wheelchair when he needs it and even assisted him in riding a bike. It was always nice to know he was in good hands every step of the way.”   “Seeing Gio grow into the strong young man he is now has been a privilege to witness,” said Kristina Deeter, MD, MBA, FAAP, Physician-in-Chief, Renown Children’s Hospital and Chair of Pediatrics, University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. “It is no surprise to me that Gio was chosen as our next Champion Child. He will be an incredible ambassador for Renown Children’s Hospital within our community and beyond.”   Through Renown Children’s Hospital, Gio and over 100,000 area children have access to more than 100 pediatricians, including 16 specialists and other subspecialties previously lacking in the community, as well as a pediatric emergency room, pediatric ICU and contemporary healthcare services at Renown Children’s Hospital. Prior to 2016, about 30% of all pediatric patients had to leave northern Nevada to receive the specialty care they needed. Now, thanks to donor support, Renown estimates that 97% of all pediatric patients and their families can receive both general and specialty pediatric care locally. The next nearest children’s hospital in the state is seven hours or 438 miles away in Las Vegas. In 2024, Renown Children’s Hospital was verified as the first level II pediatric trauma center in northern Nevada by the American College of Surgeons, a historic first for northern Nevada.   Renown Children’s Hospital is proud to be the only CMNH hospital in northern Nevada, one of only 170 premier children’s hospitals in North America. Gio will serve as Renown Children’s Hospital’s CMNH Champion Child for the next year, shining as the face of the hospital in the community and sharing his inspiring story. Renown Health Foundation oversees the local CMNH programs and its fundraising. One hundred percent of all funds raised by CMNH partners stay local to support children and families in our community. Your generous support affords much-needed items to help our littlest patients cope with the potential stressors associated with hospitalization and illness. To donate, visit renown.org/donate.

More Space, Technology and Opportunities for Clinical Training: Renown Health, UNR and Helmsley Charitable Trust Announce the Opening of the Helmsley Simulation Center

By integrating advanced simulation technology into medical education, doctors, nurses and future healthcare providers can practice complex medical scenarios in a safe, controlled environment- ultimately improving patient safety and teamwork. Renown Health announces the opening of The Helmsley Simulation Center, a training facility designed to enhance healthcare education and clinical excellence across northern Nevada. “The opening of The Helmsley Simulation Center marks a significant milestone in our commitment to advance clinical training for area healthcare professionals across the state of Nevada,” said Brian Erling, MD, MBA President & CEO, Renown Health. “This state-of-the-art facility builds the confidence and skills of current and future healthcare professionals with hands-on, real-world training to enhance patient care and outcomes. As a not-for-profit organization, Renown relies on fundraising support. We are grateful to the Helmsley Charitable Trust for their partnership and generous support in making this vision a reality.” The Helmsley Simulation Center represents a significant collaboration between Renown Health and The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust, which granted Renown Health Foundation $3.1 million in 2022 to construct this innovative facility. The grant supports one of Helmsley’s core program areas; strengthening rural healthcare. “Simulation education has become standard practice for many of our healthcare personnel,” said Erin Van Kirk MSN, RN, Director of Nursing Education, Renown Health. “This simulation lab will provide expanded opportunities in a controlled setting where physicians, nurses, and students can gain valuable experience in providing the best care possible.” “This center does much to support Renown Health’s strong and important partnership as an academic health system with the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, and the Orvis School of Medicine, where we are working to expand training modules focused on rural health, virtual care and telemedicine for our medical students and learners,” said Paul Hauptman, MD, Dean, UNR Med and Chief Academic Officer, Renown Health. “This is a remarkable resource that bridges academic excellence with clinical practice- and it is a dream come true for me and those I work with and teach,” said Kirk Bronander, MD, an academic hospitalist at Renown Regional Medical Center and Director of Simulation at UNR Med. “For decades, airlines have relied on simulation training to ensure pilots are prepared for any situation. Now, we are bringing that same level of rigor and hands-on experience to healthcare. By integrating advanced simulation technology into medical education, doctors, nurses and future healthcare providers can practice complex medical scenarios in a safe, controlled environment- ultimately improving patient safety, decision-making and clinical outcomes. This is particularly crucial for clinicians serving in our rural and underserved areas.” “Our mission is to ensure that healthcare providers in all communities have access to high-quality training and resources,” said Wayne Booze, Rural Healthcare Program Director. “By supporting Renown Health, we are investing in the future of healthcare across Nevada and empowering providers to deliver life-saving care. The Center fits with our goal to level the playing field by giving rural residents and providers access to top-notch healthcare, regardless of their ZIP code. The new center will enable Renown Health to train substantially more nurses, physicians, community clinical partners, medical students and rural providers while improving medical and nursing expertise to support staff throughout northern Nevada.” Features include real-life acute, outpatient, telemedicine and specialty care scenarios with; Six patient rooms designed to simulate real-world clinical environments, including acute, outpatient, telemedicine and specialty care settings; Four advanced simulation “people and baby” manikins, capable of mimicking a wide range of medical conditions and responses; Advanced equipment includes a telemetry monitor, IV and epidural equipment, a code cart, a defibrillator, a balloon pump, ventilators and a cooling machine; Two debriefing rooms, where educators can review scenarios with participants, analyze decision-making processes and provide constructive feedback. “Our mission as a health system and Nevada’s first hospital is to serve our community as the only not-for-profit academic health system, committed to saving lives, nurturing minds, and caring for all people,” said Melodie Osborn, MBA, BSN, RN, Chief Nursing Executive and sponsor of the project. “Opening the simulation center, you feel our mission in action. The simulation center will serve a wide range of learners including nurses, physicians, community clinical partners, EMTs and first-responders, medical students and rural providers. This state-of-the-art simulation center expands our academic partnerships and substantially increases training capacity from 1,500 to 2,500 clinicians each year across urban and rural settings. In addition, we will foster confidence, teamwork and clinical expertise with the care teams that care for almost a million patients and their families. It’s a very exciting and important day.” Yesterday, Becker’s Healthcare listed The Helmsley Simulation Center at Renown Health as one of the nation’s 64 Simulation and Education Programs to Know. "I am proud that northern Nevada and Renown Health, with support from The Helmsley Charitable Trust, are investing in the future of healthcare for our region,” said Greg Walaitis, MBA, Renown Health Foundation Chief Development Officer. “Delivering best-in-class care begins with ensuring every provider, whether new or experienced, has access to a space where they can continually refine and enhance their skills. This generous grant for the new simulation center from The Helmsley Charitable Trust is truly an investment in the bright future we envision for Renown, our care teams and the community.” About Renown Health Renown Health is the region’s largest locally governed, not-for-profit integrated academic healthcare network serving Nevada, Lake Tahoe and northeast California. Renown Health Officially Opens Life-Saving Kidney Transplant Program, Patient Assessments to Begin Immediately

New Renown Transplant Institute will transform lives through advanced care and innovation Renown Health announced the official opening today of the Renown Transplant Institute, a multidisciplinary team of leading surgeons, physicians, and healthcare professionals working together to bring essential services, hope and life-saving treatment to people with end-stage kidney disease.  Today’s press conference announcement was attended by physicians, clinical staff, area health care and dialysis leaders, transplant recipients, administrators, donors and supporters. “Today marks a significant step forward in our mission to deliver life-saving care for patients with end-stage renal disease who require a kidney transplant for survival,” said Rahul Mediwala, MD, MBA, CEO of Renown Medical Group. “It is humbling and inspiring – and such a gift this holiday season- to announce this program for our patients, community and state.” Dr. Mediwala is a nephrologist who has practiced in the community for nearly 20 years.  He added,” Chronic kidney disease affects more than 37 million people in the United States, with thousands of patients progressing to end-stage renal disease each year. For many, a kidney transplant is the best treatment option, offering improved quality of life and survival rates compared to long-term dialysis. However, access to transplantation has traditionally been limited, especially in underserved communities like northern Nevada.” Dr. Mediwala said, “I’ve seen people die here in northern Nevada, waiting for a kidney transplant. They were not able to afford being out of work or the expense of traveling out of the area to receive life-sustaining care. With the opening of the Renown Transplant Institute, we are addressing this gap by providing timely access to comprehensive transplant evaluations and essential care. Now, residents in need of advanced kidney treatment and transplantation can stay close to home and receive comprehensive transplant evaluation and treatment here at Renown. They will no longer need to endure long waits or seek residency or care in other states, which will help alleviate the financial, physical, and emotional burden for critically ill patients and their families.” Introducing the Renown Transplant Team Dr. Mediwala introduced the Renown Transplant Team to area media and the community. “Together, the Renown Transplant Institute’s physician leadership has more than 65 years of experience caring for hundreds of kidney transplant patients. The multidisciplinary team includes transplant surgeons, a transplant nephrologist, transplant nurse coordinator, social worker, dietician, pharmacist and financial coordinator who will assist patients through the transplant journey. Supported by the Renown nephrology and surgical teams, the Renown Transplant Institute team provides comprehensive transplant services, including pre-transplant evaluation, surgical procedures, and post-transplant care, all under one roof here at Nevada’s #1 ranked hospital, Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, NV.” The Executive Director of the Renown Transplant Institute and Chief of Transplantation at Renown Health is nationally recognized transplant surgeon Ernesto P. After completing an adult and pediatric abdominal transplant fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, he has led multi-organ transplant efforts at Baylor University Medical Center/Children’s Medical Center of Dallas; The University of Texas Southwestern; The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine; and The University of Arizona College of Medicine. Dr. Molmenti has authored 500 peer-reviewed manuscripts/chapters and written 6 textbooks translated into multiple languages. His research interests include interventions to eliminate disparities in transplantation and increase organ donor registration.  “Understanding the great need that exists for this critical resource, we are focusing all our energy on creating a caring, efficient and responsive environment for our patients to support them through their transplant experience,” says Ernesto Molmenti, MD, PHD, MBA. “We are eager to begin assessing patients for kidney transplant. We recognize the courage it takes to begin the transplant journey, and we want to assure our patients that they are not alone. The goal of our program is to perform successful transplants and ensure holistic support for patients and their families.” Dr. Molmenti referenced the Renown Transplant Institute team including:  David C. The expansion of essential transplantation services across our state is made possible because of our extraordinary partnership. Together, we are working to increase access, lower costs, and enhance research and education in the field of donation transplantation. We are incredibly grateful for their support and assistance.”  He added, “the need for additional organ transplantation expertise across the U.S. and Nevada is critical. According to the Nevada Donor Network, 644 kidney patients in Nevada are currently on a waiting list to receive a life-saving kidney transplant. Across the country, every day 17 people die each day because an organ does not become available to them while they are waiting and every 8 minutes someone is added to the waiting list. Across the country, 90,000 people are waiting for a kidney transplant.” One of those people is Reno’s own, Massiel Smith, who Mr. Ferreira introduced to the audience to share her story. Reno’s Own Massiel Smith Shares Her Kidney Transplant Story Massiel Smith shared that she is a grateful recipient of a kidney transplant who continues to fight on behalf of the hero who gave her the ultimate gift. As a teenager, she was diagnosed with IgA nephropathy, a type of kidney disease that would ultimately require a kidney transplant. As she began a career in dialysis, she gained a new perspective on life. A year later, she was on the transplant waiting list and decided to volunteer with Nevada Donor Network. During a volunteer event, Massiel met a donor mom who shared her story about her son. She didn't mention her transplant journey or that she was waiting for the ultimate gift, but it truly was a moment which reminded her to keep fighting. Two years after this pivotal meeting, she received the call that she had been anxiously hoping for, her ultimate gift, a kidney transplant. Massiel had to leave the area to receive a kidney transplant. She believed this time in her life was the most pure and humbling experience. She thanked the team at Renown Transplant Institute and Nevada Transplant Institute, for bringing these essential services to the northern Nevada community- and the patients and families who will benefit from them.  Brian Erling, MD, MBA, President & CEO of Renown Health, thanked Massiel for sharing her story, saying, “A kidney transplant is the best life-saving option for people like Maissel living with kidney disease. Our goal is that every eligible person who is seeking a kidney transplant receives one.”  He announced that the Renown Transplant Institute has been granted Organ Procurement & Transplantation Network (OPTN) certification, and UNOS approval. This makes Renown Regional Medical Center one of only 250 transplant centers nationwide and one of only two centers in all of Nevada. “By providing kidney transplant services to patients in Nevada, we hope to improve transplant rates in our region and reduce health care disparities across the state. This now enables the Renown Transplant Institute team to begin assessing patients for kidney transplants.” “This holiday season,” he said, we are reminded of the power of gratitude and giving. We are proud to announce a transformative $5.5 million donation from the William N. Pennington Foundation, and we thank those who are with us today from The Pennington Foundation, for their extraordinary generosity.  This gift supports the recruitment and start-up phase for kidney transplants including covering costs for transplant surgeons, nephrologists, medical personnel and personnel staff and related costs.  The grant also establishes the William N. Pennington Patient Assistance Fund, a program dedicated to supporting transplant patients and their families during their medical journey. Our goal is to ensure that all those in need have access to the best possible care regardless of their financial situation. In recognition of their generous gift, the 9th floor of the Center for Advanced Medicine at Renown Regional Medical Center, will be named the William N. Pennington Transplant Suite.” He closed the press conference by saying, “All of us at Renown are forever grateful to our patients, community and donors for their many gifts.” We are working diligently to meet the highest standards of clinical excellence, and we are now ready to provide this life-changing option to patients who need it most. Together, we are paving the way for better health outcomes and a brighter future for those in need.” Assessments Now Open for Kidney Transplant Candidates With the opening of this new program, the Renown Health team is working closely with local healthcare providers and social workers at area dialysis centers to streamline referrals and ensure a smooth transition for patients to the transplant list. The Renown Transplant Institute is now accepting referrals for kidney transplant. Candidates will undergo a thorough evaluation process to determine their eligibility and readiness for a transplant. Physicians may now refer patients, or people with end-stage kidney disease who wish to be screened for a kidney transplant by Dr. Narisorn Atsava-Svate and Dr. Ernesto Molmenti, may call 1-833-RING-NTI (746-4684). Butterfly Room Expands at Renown Children’s Hospital for Childhood Cancer Patients and Their Families

Above: Renown Health and Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation leaders cut the ribbon to open the Butterfly Room at Renown Children’s Hospital.   Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation (NNCCF), a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for children with cancer and their families, has collaborated with Renown Children’s Hospital, the only dedicated children’s hospital in northern Nevada, to enhance the hospital’s existing Butterfly Room. The Butterfly Room offers a serene setting for pediatric patients facing a terminal diagnosis and their parents, helping facilitate a peaceful end-of-life process.   The expansion was unveiled at a ribbon cutting event at Renown Children’s Hospital today. NNCCF’s donation will expand the Butterfly Room’s comforting features, including a sleeping sofa for parents, bedding and curtains to enhance the room’s tranquil and supportive feel. Artwork provided by Renown Health will add to the peaceful nature in the space.   “We want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the incredible resilience of pediatric cancer patients and their families. Advances in medicine have brought remarkable progress, and most children diagnosed with cancer today can look forward to successful treatment outcomes and bright futures,” said Dr. Kris Deeter, Physician-in-Chief, Renown Children’s Hospital and Chair of Pediatrics, University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med). “However, it is essential to recognize that despite these advancements, not all outcomes are favorable. Tragically, some children succumb to their illnesses, leaving an irreplaceable void in the lives of their families, our team and our community. This reality underscores the urgent need for continued support for families navigating this journey. It also reminds us of the importance of compassion, understanding and unity in addressing the challenges of pediatric cancer. We appreciate our collaboration with NNCCF and our hearts are with all those impacted by pediatric cancer.”    “As our community grows, keeping care close to home for pediatric patients, especially those facing a devastating cancer diagnosis, is a top priority for all of us,” said Paige McCall, Vice President of Women and Children, Renown Children’s Hospital. “Our newly enhanced Butterfly Room will help support patients and families to make lasting memories together in a space of healing and comfort. We are incredibly grateful for NNCCF for their generosity, which enabled us to transform our space once again.”   Renown Children’s Hospital has worked closely with NNCCF since 2005. Their collaboration to enhance the Butterfly Room is crucial to the Reno-Sparks community, as the project represents the start of a long-term collaboration to support pediatric oncology patients and their families.   "Northern Nevada Children's Cancer Foundation (NNCCF) is honored to collaborate with Renown Health to create this peaceful hospital room for the families we serve in our community,” said Brigette Cole, Executive Director, NNCCF. “Our work with Renown is crucial in the support we can provide to northern Nevada families battling a childhood cancer diagnosis. We are thrilled for the unveiling of the Butterfly Room as we believe this room can bring a sense of comfort and calm during an extremely difficult and stressful time." "Our collaboration with Renown has continued to grow and has enabled us to better serve our families through communication, resources, and support,” Shirley Folkins-Roberts, Co-Founder and Board Member, NNCCF. “As a Co-Founder of NNCCF, the creation of the Butterfly Room has been a dream of our organization for many years, and it is incredible to see it come to life. Our support to local families battling a childhood cancer diagnosis has come a long way in our nearly 25 years as an organization, and we are excited to see how our work with Renown will continue to grow and expand the support we are able to offer."   For more information about supporting pediatric care at Renown Children’s Hospital, visit renown.org/give.
