Decision to accept patients with Medicaid at all 10 Urgent Care locations will expand access to urgent healthcare for thousands of Nevadans  As of today, Dec. 1, 2024, all 10 Renown Urgent Care locations in Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Fernley and Fallon will accept patients with Medicaid, increasing access to urgent but non-life-threatening care for up to 21.2% of Washoe County residents and 766,157 Nevadans who are enrolled in Medicaid or CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program). Medicaid provides health coverage to eligible low-income adults, children, pregnant women, elderly adults and people with disabilities. The announcement comes a year after Renown Medical Group announced the addition of three additional Urgent Care locations accepting Medicaid, bringing the total Medicaid-accepting locations to six in Nov. 2023. Today, Dec. 1, 2024, four additional Renown Urgent Care locations will join the six practices that already accept Medicaid. “Our decision to accept Medicaid at every Renown Urgent Care practice site reflects our mission as a not-for-profit health system to ensure that quality healthcare is accessible to everyone in our community, regardless of their financial circumstances,” said Brian Erling, MD, MBA, President and CEO, Renown Health. “Urgent care often serves as a critical resource during times of immediate need, and by accepting Medicaid at all locations, we will be expanding services for many low-income individuals often overlooked by for-profit medical organizations.”  Medicaid will be accepted at all Renown Urgent Care locations, which can be found at the following addresses (locations underlined are the newest additions of Medicaid-accepting practices):  1075 N Hills Blvd., Ste 180, Reno 4791 Summit Ridge Dr., Reno 197 Damonte Ranch Pkwy, Ste A-B, Reno 910 Vista Blvd, Sparks 975 Ryland St., Reno 202 Los Altos Pkwy, Sparks 440 NV-439 #1, USA Parkway 1343 W. Three More Renown Urgent Cares Now Accepting Patients with Medicaid for a Total of Six Locations Across Northern Nevada

Renown Health now offers urgent care services to patients with Medicaid insurance at the locations on USA Parkway, Los Altos and in Carson City.  Renown’s 10 Urgent Care locations see patients 365 days a year for medical concerns that are urgent but not life-threatening. Renown has recently expanded the number of urgent care sites accepting Medicaid insurance to include the USA Parkway, Los Altos and Carson City locations. Medicaid provides health coverage to thousands of Nevadans, including eligible low-income adults, children, pregnant women, elderly adults, and people with disabilities. Medicaid is now accepted at six Renown Health Urgent Care locations at the following addresses: 440 NV-439 #1, USA Parkway 202 Los Altos Pkwy, Sparks 2814 N. Carson St., Ste 101, Carson City 975 Ryland St., Reno 1343 W. Newlands Dr., Fernley 560 E. Williams Ave., Fallon “As Reno’s only not-for-profit health care provider, we see all patients, regardless of their ability to pay. Increasing access to urgent care medical services remains a priority for us,” said Brian Erling, MD, MBA, Renown Health President, and CEO. “With a lack of medical providers and long wait lists for care in Washoe County, many people may not seek treatment when ill, and their conditions become more advanced, making treatment more difficult and costlier. We are working to hire additional physicians and medical providers to meet the need. We are pleased to help reduce barriers to care by accepting people with Medicaid insurance at six urgent care locations in Reno-Sparks and in our neighboring communities.” Government initiatives like Medicaid are designed to help uninsured individuals secure health care coverage. Medicaid is the largest health insurance provider in the United States, providing coverage to millions of Americans. As of July 2023, 835,888 Nevadans have enrolled in Medicaid and CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program). Statistics show that 21% of people in Washoe County have Medicaid coverage (2021). “We continue to seek new ways to meet the healthcare needs of everyone in our community,” said Rahul Mediwala, MD, CPE, Renown Medical Group CEO. “Our skilled providers at all Renown Urgent Care locations are able to diagnose and treat a variety of non-life-threatening illnesses, including respiratory illness; allergic reactions; minor burns, cuts and bites; sprains; urinary tract infections and more.” For life-threatening emergencies and when urgent care locations are closed, the Emergency Rooms at Renown Regional Medical Center, Renown South Meadows Medical Center and Renown Children’s Hospital are ready to treat and care for all patients, 24/7. The current hours of operation for all Renown Health locations are available at renown.org/locations. Getting Care During The Holidays

Although coined the most wonderful time of the year, the holiday season can unfortunately bring with it injuries and illness. Woke up on Christmas morning with the gift of a sore throat and fever? Sliced your finger carving the delicious turkey you spent all day preparing? While no one ever wants to cut their festivities short, the reality is we should all be prepared with how and where we will receive care should we need it. Are Renown Urgent Care Facilities Open During the Holidays? Renown Urgent Care sees patients 365 days a year, with limited hours on holidays, for medical concerns that are urgent but not life-threatening. Urgent care providers can treat everything from cuts and burns to fevers and allergic reactions and appointments can be booked ahead of time online. If no appointments are available, you may also walk into any of our various urgent care facilities. Conditions and injuries treated at urgent care include: Cuts Fractures Burns Sprains Fevers Allergic reactions Animal bites Rashes Sore throats Does Renown Offer In-Home Care Options on Holidays? If you’d like to see a healthcare provider without leaving the house and exposing others to illness, consider a Virtual Urgent Care Visit. This convenient video conference service allows you to see an urgent care provider from the comfort of your home using a cellphone, computer or tablet with video capabilities. Providers are available for video chat from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Scheduling a Virtual Visit is easy directly through MyChart. Login to MyChart and click on the "Talk to a doctor" video icon within the portal to get started. Before scheduling, be sure your illness or injury is included on the following list to ensure a healthcare provider can assist you virtually: Common cold and cough symptoms Muscular, tendon or joint pains not caused by injury Allergy or sinus symptoms Pink eye (no trauma or something in the eye) Urinary discomfort Diarrhea without vomiting Rashes or skin sores Backache Nail problems Screening examination for sexually transmitted illness (without symptoms) Medication refills (not controlled substances) When Should I Go to the Emergency Room? Urgent care and Virtual Visits are great options when experiencing minor illness or injury and it’s too urgent to see your primary care provider. Renown Emergency Rooms are designed to treat patients who need immediate attention for emergencies, such as: Burns Allergic reactions Broken bones Stitches Skin infections Heart attack Stroke Rashes Venomous stings and bites Asthma attacks Choking or poisoning Fainting, dizziness or confusion Head injuries Seizures Severe bleeding Difficulty breathing Severe headache Eye injuries Severe pain Renown Emergency Rooms are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. For life-threatening emergencies, always call 9-1-1 immediately. We know there is nothing jolly about getting sick or injured during the holidays, but we hope you can find some comfort knowing that Renown Health is here with the care you need, when you need it most.
