Renown Health to Accept Medicaid at All Urgent Care Locations
December 01, 2024
Decision to accept patients with Medicaid at all 10 Urgent Care locations will expand access to urgent healthcare for thousands of Nevadans
As of today, Dec. 1, 2024, all 10 Renown Urgent Care locations in Reno, Sparks, Fernley and Fallon will accept patients with Medicaid, increasing access to urgent but non-life-threatening care for up to 21.2% of Washoe County residents and 766,157 Nevadans who are enrolled in Medicaid or CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program). Medicaid provides health coverage to eligible low-income adults, children, pregnant women, elderly adults and people with disabilities.
The announcement comes a year after Renown Medical Group announced the addition of three additional Urgent Care locations accepting Medicaid, bringing the total Medicaid-accepting locations to six in Nov. 2023. Today, Dec. 1, 2024, four additional Renown Urgent Care locations will join the six practices that already accept Medicaid.
“Our decision to accept Medicaid at every Renown Urgent Care practice site reflects our mission as a not-for-profit health system to ensure that quality healthcare is accessible to everyone in our community, regardless of their financial circumstances,” said Brian Erling, MD, MBA, President and CEO, Renown Health. “Urgent care often serves as a critical resource during times of immediate need, and by accepting Medicaid at all locations, we will be expanding services for many low-income individuals often overlooked by for-profit medical organizations.”
