Our Commitment to Pricing Transparency
In an effort to help patients make more informed decisions when selecting a hospital for treatment, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requires hospitals to post their charges for standard procedures online. This pricing information is known as a chargemaster or charge table. The amounts listed in the chargemaster do not factor insurance discounts deductibles, copays, coinsurance, out-of-pocket maximums or other variables. Therefore, the charges listed are never what the patient pays. Even if you do not have insurance, there may be additional discounts or options for our patients to help manage the financial aspects of their healthcare journey. Not only do we offer patient financial assistance, Renown also offers financing options. Patients are encouraged to reach out to us for financial planning options. Call us for financial planning options at 775-982-3993, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
New transparency rules in 2021
Effective in 2021, the CMS Hospital Pricing Transparency Final rule requires hospitals to post additional information beyond the chargemaster for items and services rendered by a hospital. Hospitals are now required to display other information to help patients understand the cost of services. Additionally, hospitals are required to display their shoppable services in a consumer-friendly manner. Click here to be taken to MyChart where you can create your own estimate for specific healthcare services you plan to have in the future. Renown has negotiated rates with insurance companies that vary by service. Due to the complexities of healthcare pricing and reimbursement, you may have questions about the values shown in our rate tables. As such, our patients are encouraged to contact us for questions.

Why are hospital charges different than what I owe?
Renown negotiates varying discounted rates with various insurance companies. In addition, every detail of treatment has an impact on your out-of-pocket expense, from healthcare benefits and types of providers down to the unique services each patient receives.
Since the charges listed in the table are not tailored to your specific treatment, physicians or insurance, do not use the charge table to make decisions that would affect your health or care plan. Instead, we recommend you contact us for a cost estimate so that we can help you get a more accurate quote.
