Cardiac Imaging
Heart imaging plays a vital role in healthcare, offering critical insights into the structure, function and overall health of the heart. By utilizing advanced imaging techniques, imaging specialists can accurately diagnose, monitor and treat various cardiac conditions. At Renown Health we offer comprehensive diagnostic imaging services, including echocardiogram (echo), nuclear imaging, Coronary CT angiography and vascular ultrasound. Follow-up imaging can also be completed for post-surgical procedures to measure success rates.
Echocardiogram (Echo)
Our exceptional echo program is at the forefront of cardiac imaging, offering a range of cutting-edge echocardiogram procedures that includes:
- Transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) - We recently incorporated strain imaging into our TTE outpatient exams at Renown Regional campus, allowing for great diagnostic precision.
- Transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE) - With state-of-the-art ultrasound systems, we integrate 3D analysis during TEE procedures to provide comprehensive valve assessments.
- Stress echocardiograms
In 2022 alone, we performed an impressive 22,148 echo exams. Echocardiograms can also now be performed at our Double R Imaging location.
Nuclear Cardiology Imaging
Renown offers the following nuclear imaging services:
- Cardiac PET scans - Renown is the only provider in the region to offer cardiac PET scans. We acquire cardiac PET and Cardiac PET with Functional Flower Reserve (FRR) to assist providers in determining the best treatment course for patients.
- Multi-Gated Cardiac Acquistions (MUGA) scans - Used to assess and quantify left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF).
- Myocardial Perfusion Imaging (MPI) Test with SPECT Imaging System - This allows for accelerated imaging of blood flow to the heart muscle.
Coronary CT Angiography (CCTA)
CCTA is a diagnostic test that generates detailed 3D images of the heart’s arteries to identify abnormalities in blood flow, detect coronary artery disease (CAD) and assess cardiac function. CCTA is non-invasive scan where, unlike heart catheterizations, the contrast is given through an IV. It is quick, precise and relatively painless, with accuracy rates as high as 95%.
We also offer cardiac scoring CT scans, which assess the presence of calcified plaque in arteries that can lead to heart attacks or CAD. This scan is performed without the need for IV contrast.
Vascular Ultrasound
Our skilled team of Registered Vascular Technologists (RVT) specialize in performing ultrasounds of the veins and arteries in the body, including transcranial, abdominal, upper and lower extremities. Each exam type aims to address specific diagnostic questions, such as ruling out blood clots, assessing plaque buildup and narrowing and identifying the source of emboli. During vein ablation procedures, our RVTs provide real-time imaging guidance, assisting in gaining access and verifying catheter location.
