We recommend that all first-time parents take this in-depth class to help mothers get off to a better start with breastfeeding. Topics include the benefits of breastfeeding, breast anatomy, feeding cues, establishing a good latch, nursing positions, ways for partners to support and be involved in breastfeeding, breast pumping and breast milk storage, breastfeeding tips and available breastfeeding supplies and resources. It also touches on how to know if your baby is getting enough milk and when and where to get help if needed.

Parents-to-be will learn how to care for their newborn, including bathing, diapering, cord care, signs of illness, nutrition, feeding, infant safety, understanding newborn behavior along with growth and development. This class is ideal for expecting parents, those needing a refresher in labor coping skills, or couples wanting to expand their knowledge of comfort measures for labor and birth. During this two-hour session, you will learn: Relaxation/meditation practice Breathing techniques Positions for effective laboring and birthing Use of birth ball, rebozo and other tools Massage, counter-pressure, and acupressure Hands-on comfort measures Managing back pain Visualization, vocalizing, and movement When registering, please use expecting mother’s name and information.  Please bring to class: 75 cm exercise/yoga ball ALREADY INFLATED Two bed pillows A mat or towel for breathing and relaxation practice Please note: There is a waiting list for this class.
