Position Purpose

The Physician Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for coordinating of all physician hospital/ facility schedules for specialty practice while troubleshooting physician scheduling issues on a day to day operation. This position provides quality and knowledgeable coordination of patient exam scheduling, knowledge of exams, exam preparations, accurate patient instructions, and providing customer service to the patients and physicians.

 

 

 

Nature and Scope

The position is required to provide superior personalized service to physicians and patients on over all scheduling matters. The role is the communication link with referring physicians, our physicians and patients by arranging hospital transfers with out of town physicians and case managers and in referring patients to Centers of specialized treatment, assisting physicians and patients with community financial resources, and answering patient questions in regard to procedures and insurance issues. The position assists with scheduling patients at hospitals/ facility for specialized procedures, and ordering appropriate laboratory, x-rays or any addition test as needed for procedures. The role confirms all information needed is complete for physician review; such has hospital orders, lab, and completed dictation and submits all completed information and orders to hospitals. The role also assists and trains department schedulers on the proper way to schedule appointments for specialized procedures. 

 

The role is also responsible to produce and maintain physician schedules based on daily needs and obligations. The role also facilitates vacations or scheduling changes on master physician schedule. 

 

This position does not provide patient care.

Description

Education:

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Bachelors of Art or Bachelor of Science in Healthcare is preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of experience in a clinical setting is required. Minimum of two years of experience in scheduling and authorization of insurance and minimum of two years in a specialty practice is preferred. Knowledge of Medical Terminology is preferred. Background in Healthcare billing is preferred.

Computer / Typing:

Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
