Position Purpose

Under the direction of Renown’s Legal department and in collaboration with Renown’s People Services division, this role will work with providers and other candidates in assisting with immigration-related matters. The Immigration Specialist, while they cannot provide legal advice, works closely with immigration lawyers with various matters, including:

 Citizenship applications

 Business immigration issues

 Political asylum

 Work and student visas (e.g., J-1 Visa, H1-b Visa, etc.)

 Prepare and file petitions

 Obtain paperwork from candidates for visa applications

 Review legal invoices from external immigration law firms

 Manage visa candidate case files

 

 

 

Nature and Scope

The Immigration Specialist directly interacts with candidates and employees. The position plays a crucial role in guiding candidates and employees of Renown Health through the intricate landscape of immigration procedures and policies. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Assisting Candidates with Applications and Paperwork:

o Immigration Specialist will help candidates fill out and submit immigration applications and paperwork, ensuring accuracy and completeness to avoid delays.

o the meticulous review of forms related to visas, work permits, and other immigration documents.

 

2. Eligibility Assessment and Tailored Guidance Under the Direction of an Attorney:

o Provide detailed consultations to assess candidates’ eligibility for various immigration programs and visas.

o Based on specific circumstances; the position will provide tailored advice to guide candidates toward the most suitable immigration pathways.

 

3. Liaison with Government Agencies:

o The Immigration Specialist collaborate with government agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

o Tracks application progress and addresses any issues that arise and ensures compliance with legal requirements.

 

4. Interview Preparation and Advocacy:

o Prepares candidates for interviews with immigration officials.

o Conducts mock interviews and advises on appropriate responses to potential questions.

o Additionally, the Immigration Specialist may support attorneys in representing candidates in legal proceedings related to immigration matters, including hearings and appeals.

 

5. Interpretation of Immigration Laws and Policies:

o The Immigration Specialist analyzes and interprets immigration laws and policies.

o They provide candidates with up-to-date and relevant guidance under the direction of an immigration attorney, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.

 

6. Logistics and Relocation Management:

o Coordinating candidate relocation is essential.

o the goal is to facilitate a smooth transition for individuals moving across borders.

 

7. Building Professional Relationships:

o The Immigration Specialist maintains connections with foreign consulates and embassies.

o This helps facilitate efficient visa processing and keeps them informed about changes in immigration policies.

Minimum Qualifications
Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

Name

Description

Education:

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. A bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field, or equivalent immigration law, knowledge and experience required. Bilingual skills a plus.

Experience:

Minimum of at least four (4) years of demonstrated success in an immigration field of knowledge, operating in a medical group/health care operation, information technologies, or complex service culture, or integrated health care organization. Preference given to those candidates with provider interaction experience in healthcare.

License(s):

None

Certification(s):

Paralegal Certification is required. Professional Human Resources (PHR), or Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM- CP), or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), or Association for Advancing Physician and Provider Recruitment (AAPPR) certification is preferred.

Computer / Typing:

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
