Cardiologist-Interventional - Carson Valley Health - Gardnerville, Nevada

As a general, clinical cardiologist, employee will provide clinical services to persons who present with diseases of the heart and blood vessels and manage complex cardiac conditions. The position requires the ability to admit, work up, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to adult patients with cardiovascular disease. Position requires completion of a clinical cardiology fellowship or meet previous experience requirements.

In addition to the same clinical services provided by a general, clinical cardiologist, the interventional cardiology position requires advance training during an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship program of one year under specialized, supervised training or meet required previous experience criteria within the past 24 months. This position also includes the ability to admit, evaluate, treat, and provide consultation to adult patients by use of specialized imaging and other diagnostic techniques to evaluate blood flow and pressure in the coronary arteries and chambers of the heart. The position also requires the use of technical procedures and medications to treat abnormalities that impair the function of the cardiovascular system.

The incumbent obtains history, examines, diagnoses, counsels, and treats patients within the physician’s area of specialty and experience. The incumbent makes critical decisions regarding medical care. The incumbent works closely and in cooperation with the management staff, directs comments, questions to the appropriate management person, and follows administrative policies. The incumbent actively participates in physician governance meetings, management decisions, and follows policies adopted by Renown Health and its medical staff. The incumbent stays abreast of current advances in medicine by reviewing recent publications, attending in-services and educational meetings, and attending continuing medical education programs in the appropriate field.

Education:

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.

Experience:

Prior experience in referenced specialty. Successful completion of Interventional Cardiology fellowship, required.

License(s):

Must possess and maintain a current and valid State of Nevada Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) medicine license. Controlled substance License to Prescribe issued by the State of Nevada and Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the DEA, required.

Certification(s):

Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Cardiovascular Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), and Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Interventional Cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). If Provider is Board Eligible at time of hire, Certification(s) must be obtained within two (2) years of employment.

Advanced Certification Life Support (ACLS) required. Prefer American Heart Association (AHA) approved certification but will accept online certification from American Red Cross Training Services, Advanced Medical Certification, or ACLS Certification Institute.

Computer / Typing:

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.

Ability to credential through Carson Valley Health (CVH) and/or payor credentialing, as applicable.
