Additionally, many individuals have personal histories of exposure to violence or abuse. It's important to recognize that trauma can stem from a wide range of experiences, not just these examples.

Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program
The journey through adolescence is not without its challenges, particularly when it comes to mental health. At Stacie Mathewson Behavioral Health & Addiction Institute, we recognize the unique struggles faced by teenagers today, including depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts. These issues signal a critical need for accessible, effective support and care. The Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program runs after school three days a week for five weeks, allowing for a balanced yet intensive approach to recovery.

We provide expert assessment, diagnosis and management of mental and behavioral health disorders. TMS Therapy
Renown Health is enhancing mental health services in northern Nevada through the Stacie Mathewson Behavioral Health & Addiction Institute, offering repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) therapy for Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). This non-invasive and non-systemic treatment uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain, targeting areas involved in mood control. It is typically employed when other treatments have failed. The therapy, cleared by the FDA and commonly covered by insurance, involves sessions lasting between 18-30 minutes over seven weeks, conducted under a psychiatrist's supervision. The procedure, performed while patients are awake in a comfortable setting, may initially cause minor discomfort. Contact the institute directly for more details or to refer a patient.

Breast Surgical Oncology
Breast Surgery Care at Renown Health Renown Breast Surgery Care, located within the Center for Advanced Medicine B, is a comprehensive, fully integrated breast surgery clinic, addressing a wide spectrum of breast problems ranging from benign to cancerous: Benign breast conditions such as fibroadenoma, phyllodes tumors, and nipple discharge Breast cancer risk assessment and genetics High risk breast lesions such as atypical ductal hyperplasia, atypical lobular hyperplasia, LCIS, papillary lesions, and radial scars Advanced breast cancer surgical techniques including oncoplastic surgery for best aesthetic outcomes possible and nipple sparing mastectomies, working closely with skilled plastic reconstructive surgeons. Our highly experienced breast surgical oncologists are continuing to expand our team to better meet the evolving needs of our community and beyond. We are excited to soon be incorporating an oncology wellness team who can further support our patients with focused nutritional guidance, functional assessments for prehabilitation needs prior to surgery or medical treatments, and guidance for development of physical activity and other exercise programs, for best outcomes in cancer treatment as well as future risk reduction. The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) is a rigorous process designed to ensure high quality care for breast centers by meeting thoughtfully created standards that are constantly being reviewed and updated for ongoing improvement of patient care. We are the only NAPBC-accredited program in Northern Nevada.

Polyps can develop in the colon or rectum and become malignant without presenting any symptoms. Therefore, knowing and addressing your risk factors and undergoing the recommended screenings is crucial. Colorectal cancer affects both men and women. Even if you have no personal or family history of colon cancer, ask your doctor about colorectal risk factors and when to start screening. With regular screening, colorectal cancer is easily detectable and treatable.

Cherie Elvin Memorial Fund Scholarship
The Cherie Elvin Memorial Fund was created by the Elvin Family as a legacy to honor their mother, Cherie, who died at the 2011 Reno Air Races. Throughout her life, Cherie cared for her family in so many different ways. The care the family received from the physicians, nurses, and other care providers from all area hospitals and EMS teams along with the support they received from the community has inspired the Elvin Family to fund two scholarships to individuals wanting to become Registered Nurses in the Reno-Sparks area. Each scholarship will be valued at $2,500 and awarded to applicants who are committed to working at the bedside and convey the fundamental qualities of a nurse and how they will connect with their patients recovering from traumatic situations.
