This support group provides support, education, networking, and resource materials to caregivers coping with a loved one diagnosed with cancer. In effort to provide the most supportive atmosphere for those caring for loved one dealing with cancer, this group is for current cancer caregivers only. If you have lost a loved one to cancer, there are these groups available for support: Grief Support Groups in Reno If you have cancer, Renown offers the following support groups: Cancer Support Group Men’s Prostate Cancer Support Group Newly Diagnosed Breast Cancer Orientation Class Lymphedema Education & Risk Reduction Class *Virtual attendance is available. This group is for all patients facing cancer. The meeting enables participants to share experiences and express feelings and concerns. All cancer patients, family members, survivors, and caregivers are welcome to attend. Meets weekly on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. in person and virtually. This FREE virtual seminar is open to all patients, family members, friends and caregivers. Learn about weight loss surgery and its effectiveness in resolving and improving diabetes and other diseases such as high blood pressure and sleep apnea. Topics include: Am I a candidate? The types of bariatric surgeries Renown offers along with the risks and benefits of each. Updated success statistics of bariatric surgery, resolution and/or improvement of diabetes and other medical problems. How you can expect to progress through the process and standard medical management following surgery. Lifestyle and nutritional changes needed to be successful. Information about our surgeons performing Weight Loss Surgery at Renown Regional Medical Center. Video enabled attendance is available. All women have different postpartum and recovery experiences after giving birth. This 2-hour class helps prepare mom and partner on what to expect after birth and the weeks to follow, and is offered every other month and is open to mothers and their partners. A few topics discussed in this class are: Postpartum care in the hospital Changes after birth Caring for yourself during postpartum The difference between postpartum blues and postpartum depression Mother’s warning signs Adjustments once you get home The new father or partner Please note: There is a waiting list for this class. Safe Sitter® is designed to prepare students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. The instructor-led class is filled with fun games and role-playing exercises. Students will learn safety skill, childcare skills, first aid and rescue skills, life and business skills, and CPR. Each participant will receive a handbook and a certificate of completion, not a traditional CPR card. Please pack a lunch, water & snacks or you can eat at our Sierra Café or Starbucks.
